New Book Signing Information

I’m sitting in a cafeteria, typing from my bluetooth keyboard, to my cell phone.  I feel really techie.  I’m remembering a purse I wanted really badly, when I was a teen.  It was was a telephone purse, and was made with a real, working telephone.

It was a great concept, but the problem was where you could plug it in to use it.  I never bought it because I could never think of anywhere good to plug in the phone.

I am telling you that my 14 year old self would be REALLY impressed by me. Not just because of my hot pink keyboard, but also because I got an email from the Southlake B&N, inviting me to come sign books on June 14.

If you are in the area, I will be there from 2–4pm, signing PLAYING ALL THE ANGLES.

I need to start practicing my pen name signature.  14 year old me would be scribbing it on her binder.

Staying Alive

I have that song stuck in my head.  As songs go, it isn’t bad, but I don’t know the words.  That makes it a little unbearable.

Summer is coming!  I have never been so excited at the prospect of being warm before. This past winter felt endless and brutal, with not just our usual one ice storm, but three of them that closed schools and kept me off the roads.  I’m ready to complain about the heat now.  Excited to.

I am also excited at the prospect of getting TIARA TROUBLE into audio book form.  There are plans in the works, and I’ll let you know more about that as things develop.  In any case, you can expect MISS MAYHEM later this year.  There’ve been a few hold-ups, but I’m optimistic for a release date.

Meanwhile, I’m having an unusual amount of fun studying for some financial advisory licensing.  Who knew I cared about the difference between open- and closed-ended funds?  It’s nice to learn something that is legitimately new to me, that makes me stretch my brain to understand, and that is genuinely useful.  I’ve gotten mentally fat on philosophy, fiction, and celebrity gossip, so this has been like a boot camp for my capacity to learn.

You know what I love?  That feeling that happens when the pieces start to click.  When the word salad of all the new terminology starts to make sense, and I can grasp not just the meanings of the words, but how to use them meaningfully.

Learning is fun.

Galley Girl

I got my galley for PLAYING ALL THE ANGLES this mornng.  It is beautiful.  There’s just something about seeing your work go from a marked up Word document, to a formatted publication. Now comes the hardest part for me.
At this stage of the game, you read for typos.  It is impossible for me to read something I’ve written, and not want to take a Magic Eraser to it.  So, I will be reading and gritting my teeth, saying to myself, “That line needs to go.  That could be so much better.  What were you thinking?”

I’m really excited for this release!  For now, back to the grindstone.
